 der at Southampton Arts Center — a rhythm-driven celebration of the pion
 eering vibraphonist whose recordings helped bring Latin jazz to a wider au
 dience during the 1950s and 1960s.\nSammy Figueroa is a Grammy-nominated p
 ercussionist\, bandleader\, and Afro-Caribbean music specialist whose care
 er spans jazz\, Latin\, pop\, and beyond. Over decades as one of New York'
 s most in-demand percussionists\, he has performed and recorded with Miles
  Davis\, Sonny Rollins\, David Bowie\, Mariah Carey\, Chaka Khan\, Herbie 
 Hancock\, and many more.\nThis special performance pays tribute to Cal Tja
 der — the pioneering vibraphonist and bandleader known for combining Afr
 o-Cuban rhythms with cool jazz and West Coast jazz traditions. Tjader coll
 aborated with Mongo Santamaría\, Willie Bobo\, and Eddie Palmieri\, and r
 emains a defining influence within Latin jazz.\nThis concert will be recor
 ded for future broadcast on WLIW-FM\, an NPR affiliate.
