More than 300 guests turned out for the opening reception of Second Skin at the Southampton Arts Center on Oct. 11, 2025—an evening that celebrated art, identity, and the transformative power of fashion.

Curated by internationally recognized Latin American art scholar and curator Estrellita B. Brodsky, the exhibition brings together about 30 works from the 1950s to today, spanning photography, sculpture, textiles, and wearable art. Second Skin explores how clothing is woven into identity—constructed, resisted, commodified, or reclaimed—inviting viewers to consider how what we wear reflects who we are.

‘Second Skin’ exhibit at the Southampton Arts Center runs thru Dec. 28, 2025. Photo by Lisa Tamburini.

Notable attendees included SAC board members Peter Gregory and his wife Jamee, Sylvia Hemingway, Paul Travis, and New York State Assembly Member Rebecca Seawright. Also in attendance were the curator Estrellita Brodsky and her husband Fan Brodsky, former head of the Board of Trustees at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Three of the featured artists—Andrés Bedoya, Felix Beaudry, and Milagros de la Torre—were on hand to discuss their work and share insights into the pieces on display.
