The Glass House That Fashion Built Has Found Its Next Steward

Hamptons Real Estate

The former Creative Director of Coach has sold his striking Hamptons compound for $43.5 million, marking one of the East End’s most significant trades of the season. Completed in 2023, the custom-built estate is less a traditional beach house and more a study in restraint and light.

Okay, so Reed Krakoff, who used to be the creative head at Coach, just sold his pretty awesome beachfront house in Amagansett for a cool $43.5 million.

He got it done in 2023, after about five years of building and designing. The modern place sits on almost three acres, right on the ocean.

Some architects from Thomas Phifer and Partners in NY came up with the design. It’s basically three glass boxes that are joined by simple walkways. They used steel, glass, and concrete to make it feel like the inside and outside are all one place.

The main glass box has a big kitchen with a couple of islands and places to eat and hang out, all designed so you can easily go inside and outside. Another box has extra bedrooms, and the main bedroom is in its own building with a fancy bathroom and sitting area.

Each building opens up to a big deck with a heated pool and really great views of the trees and beach. There’s even a private path that takes you right down to the beach.

Krakoff bought the land back in 2018 and paid $10.5 million for two smaller houses that were already there. He knocked those down and built what’s there now. Hedgerow Exclusive Properties had the listing, and the sale closed last week. We don’t know yet who bought it.

Before this place, Krakoff and his wife, Delphine, who designs interiors, owned Lasata–that famous house in East Hampton where Jackie Kennedy Onassis spent her summers as a kid. They sold that in 2018 for $24 million.
