Liza Minnelli Pulls Plug On Only NYC-Area Book Event Days Before Curtain

A disappointment to Liza Minnelli fans as the icon bows out of NYC talk

Just days before showtime, Liza Minnelli has canceled her highly anticipated March 23 appearance at the Temple Emanu-El Streicker Cultural Center in Manhattan, citing illness and an inability to travel.

The one-night-only event — a rare, intimate conversation with longtime collaborator Michael Feinstein — was set to celebrate the release of her memoir, Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!, and marked her only scheduled NYC-area appearance.

Ticket holders received a “we regret to inform you” notice from the venue three days before the event — a tough break for fans hoping for a live, unscripted look at Minnelli’s legendary life. Later that day, Minnelli posted on Facebook, saying the show would be rescheduled. Here is the post from Official Liza Minnelli:

“Hey Kids, Doctor Piro’s orders, I’m sitting Monday out. I’m so sorry. Nothing serious, I promise. A damn bug that’s going around. @michaelfeisteinsings  and I will reschedule. Stay tuned. Our show always goes on. XO.”

The evening had promised candid stories, career reflections and rare film clips spanning decades of show-stopping moments — now, an encore that will have to wait.

Born to film director Vincente Minnelli and Hollywood icon Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli carved out a career all her own, becoming one of the rare performers to achieve EGOT status. Her story traces a life in entertainment marked by extraordinary highs and hard-won resilience, including her journey through recovery and struggles with substance use disorder.
