Katie Couric and Christy Turlington Burns Headline Southampton Hospital Foundation’s East Hampton Emergency Department Luncheon

Women’s health advocates joined supporters at Maidstone Club as the annual East Hampton fundraiser surpassed $1.5 million raised to advance emergency care on the South Fork.

Katie Couric and Christy Turlington Burns drew supporters to the Maidstone Club in East Hampton on July 9 for the Southampton Hospital Foundation’s sixth annual East Hampton Emergency Department Luncheon, an event highlighting women’s health while raising funds to support emergency care on the South Fork.

The award-winning journalist moderated a conversation with Christy Turlington Burns, internationally renowned model and founder and president of Every Mother Counts, exploring women’s health, wellness, philanthropy, motherhood and the importance of expanding access to high-quality healthcare.

During the discussion, Turlington Burns previewed her HBO documentary, Perilous Passage: Birth in America, which examines the maternal health crisis in the United States.

“I became a global maternal health advocate the day that I became a mom,” Turlington said.

Couric also discussed HORMONAL!, the latest documentary project from her production company, Barolo Films, produced in partnership with Trilogy Films.

“I feel like documentaries can be incredibly helpful to connect the dots and really show holistically an issue, what the root causes are and what some of the solutions are,” Couric said. “We want to start a movement and not just do a movie.”

The luncheon was chaired by Jill Davis, Kate Davis, Kristin Douglass, Hollis Forbes, Liz Lange and Mary Margaret Trousdale.

Following the program, guests enjoyed lunch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean while supporting the Southampton Hospital Foundation’s mission to strengthen emergency healthcare services across the East End.

Since its inception, the East Hampton Emergency Department Luncheon has raised more than $1.5 million to advance emergency care on the South Fork. Proceeds benefit the Stony Brook East Hampton Emergency Department, which has treated more than 13,500 patients since opening in May 2025, helping provide residents and visitors with emergency care closer to home.
