Hamptons Nonprofit The Retreat Named Charity Partner of 2026 NYC Marathon

East End organization will field runners in the world’s largest marathon to raise funds for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.

The Retreat, a Long Island nonprofit supporting survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking, has been named an official charity partner of the New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Widely regarded as the world’s largest marathon, the race draws more than 55,000 runners and roughly two million spectators across all five boroughs. The 2026 event will mark the 50th anniversary of the iconic course.

A dedicated team of runners will carry The Retreat’s mission through the streets of New York, fundraising to provide survivors with critical services, including a 24-hour hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, and legal advocacy. Every step helps families find safety, healing, and stability.

The New York Road Runners’ Official Charity Partner Program now includes more than 670 nonprofits, with a $100 million fundraising goal for 2026. At last year’s marathon, more than 14,000 charity runners raised a record $80 million for over 600 causes, and the race set a new world record with 59,226 finishers.

Race week begins Oct. 25 with the TCS New York City Marathon Kids Kickoff, welcoming approximately 2,500 youth ages 2 to 18.
