Bay Street Theater to Honor Hamilton Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda at 2026 Sag Harbor Gala in July
Award-winning Hamilton creator to receive the Julie Andrews Lifetime Achievement Award on July 11
Bay Street Theater has announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda will be honored with the Julie Andrews Lifetime Achievement Award at its 2026 Summer Gala, set for Saturday, July 11, in Sag Harbor. The event is a highlight of the organization’s 35th anniversary season.
Miranda: Pulitzer Prize-, Grammy-, Emmy-, Tony Award-Winnner
A defining voice in contemporary theater, Miranda is a Pulitzer Prize-, Grammy-, Emmy- and Tony Award-winning songwriter, actor, director and producer whose work—including Hamilton and In the Heights—has reshaped American musical storytelling and expanded its global reach. His career reflects the same spirit of creativity and accessibility that has defined Bay Street for more than three decades.
“For 35 years, Bay Street Theater has been a place where artists and audiences come together to experience the power of live storytelling,” said Artistic Director Scott Schwartz. “Honoring Lin-Manuel Miranda reflects that mission in action. His work has redefined what musical theater can be, and his commitment to expanding access and opportunity in the arts resonates deeply with our own values.”
The Julie Andrews Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals whose work has made a lasting impact on the performing arts, celebrating artistry, innovation and a commitment to the future of theater.
VIP Dinner + Cocktail Reception and more …
The July 11 gala will begin with a VIP dinner at Le Bilboquet, followed by a cocktail reception at Bay Street Theater with champagne and hors d’oeuvres. The evening continues with performances, tributes and a live auction honoring Miranda and the theater’s legacy.
A limited number of tables and tickets are available, including premium packages with access to the VIP dinner, preferred seating and additional experiences. Proceeds support Bay Street Theater’s mainstage productions and education programs.
