Neil Patrick Harris & David Burtka Honored at Family Equality Gala in NYC with Elton John, David Furnish

East Hampton’s Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka were honored with the Luminary Award at Family Equality’s Night at the Pier in New York City, presented by Elton John and David Furnish. Harris and Burtka’s teenage children Gideon and Harper Grace joined them onstage for the honor.

More than 850 families, friends and allies attended the annual fundraiser at Pier Sixty, which raised nearly $1.2 million to support LGBTQ+ families nationwide.

The evening featured performances by Pink, Joshua Henry and Nicholas Christopher, along with Broadway cast performances from Cats: The Jellicle Ball and The Lost Boys.

Rev. Jasmine Beach-Ferrara received the Hostetter-Habib Family Award for her work supporting LGBTQ+ families across the South.

Karine Jean-Pierre gave a moving speech. Marcia Gay Harden, Uma Thurman, Beth Ostrosky, Judy Gold and many supporters were in attendance.
