SPARK Eye: Jim Lennon Captures East End Snow Storm’s Beauty

Jim Lennon captures a stunning post-storm moment that makes you forget about all that snow shoveling. Here’s how it went down on Jan. 28, according to Lennon.

Tonight at the end of my block, the contrast of the Sun’s vibrant colors and frozen surface of Reeves Bay in Flanders was a view that almost makes braving the cold worth it!

Bay Frozen Over

For the first time in quite a while the bay has frozen over enough for me to wander out on the ice pack to a spot that normally would be waist high water.

In the winter, the sun sits lower in the sky; at sunset it spends more time near the horizon giving us longer lasting sunsets. Add to that clear skies and low humidity and the colors from the setting sun can shine through more vividly.
