Southampton Arts Center Reschedules Student Art Show Celebration for Feb. 11

Community opening reception for Student Art Show “First Light” moves to Wednesday afternoon

The community opening reception for First Light: Celebrating Student Artists of Southampton at Southampton Arts Center, originally scheduled for Feb. 7, was canceled due to inclement weather. The celebration has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m.

An Afternoon of Art and Live Performance

Curated by Southampton Arts Center Executive Director Christina Strassfield, the reception will offer an afternoon of art, music and hands-on creativity for families and visitors of all ages.

Student performers will provide live music throughout the event, including a flute ensemble from 4 to 5 p.m., a string ensemble from 5 to 6 p.m., and a jazz group from 6 to 7 p.m., adding a festive element to the exhibition experience.

Family Valentine Workshop

Artist Deborah Acquino will host a Family Open Studio Valentine Workshop during the reception, inviting guests to create handmade valentines for someone they love while exploring the student exhibition.

Families are encouraged to drop in and enjoy the Valentine-themed activity, offering a creative way to spend time together while celebrating student artistry and community connection.

Refreshments will be served.
Participation is free. Registration is available at southamptonartscenter.org.
