Bodycam footage from DWI arrest of pop star Justin Timberlake in June 2024 has been released to the media, showing the moments leading up to and following his traffic stop in Sag Harbor on Long Island. The video, partially redacted, was released after a legal agreement between Timberlake’s attorneys and village officials following a public records request.

“I’m on a World Tour”: Exchange With Officers
In the footage, Timberlake is seen in the driver’s seat speaking with officers after being pulled over for lane deviation and failure to stop at signs. He explains he is driving a rental car and says he is on tour. Officers question him about his identity and travel, and he confirms who he is during the stop.
Field Sobriety Tests and Refusal of Breathalyzer Prior to Arrest
The video then shows field sobriety tests being administered. Timberlake tells officers he is nervous and struggles through portions of the evaluation. He declines a breathalyzer test before officers inform him he is being placed under arrest for suspicion of impaired driving.

He is then handcuffed and placed into the back of a police vehicle. He spent the night in jail and was arraigned the next morning.
Emotional Reaction From Friend at Scene
Separate footage shows officers speaking with a woman who was with Timberlake at the scene, later identified as fashion stylist and interior designer Estee Stanley, a longtime friend of both Timberlake and his wife Jessica Biel who was driving in a car ahead of Timberlake. She reacts emotionally as she is informed of the arrest but is told she is free to leave. Stanley then asks the officers if anything can be done to (to stop the arrest) to which the officer replies, “No, It is what it is at this point.” She then asks if she can ask Timberlake if he wants her to give him his phone. The officers comply.

Legal Fight Over Release of Bodycam Footage
Timberlake’s legal team had previously filed suit to block release of the footage, arguing it depicted him in a vulnerable state and would cause reputational harm. The Village of Sag Harbor maintained that releasing the video—under court-approved redactions—complied with transparency requirements and did not violate privacy protections.
Court Rules Redacted Release Permissible
Acting Supreme Court Justice Joseph Farneti ultimately ruled that the redacted release did not constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy. Officials have noted that roughly eight hours of related footage exist from the stop and investigation.

Plea, Sentencing and Public Safety Message
Timberlake ultimately pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired, receiving a fine, community service, and a public safety message.
At the time of his plea, Timberlake said: “This is a mistake that I’ve made, but I’m hoping whoever’s watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake… even one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car.”
