Golf For Good: The Retreat’s Annual Outing Swings Back Into Season

In the Hamptons, where golf courses often serve as open-air meeting spaces, it’s gratifying when the game takes a big swing to do good. That’s what makes the Retreat’s annual charity golf outing such a special September tradition. On Monday, September 22, 2025, the event moves to the sought-after greens of Noyac Golf Club in Sag Harbor. Community leaders, supporters, and some top players will tee off, aiming for more than just birdies. They will play for families in crisis.

The day starts with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. There is a shotgun start at noon on the 144-acre Ross Forbes-designed course, a peaceful area that rolls down to Noyac Bay. For players, the focus is less on handicaps and more on participation, though this course can challenge even the most experienced golfers. The night brings the excitement of cocktails, dinner, and a live auction led by celebrity chef Michael Symon. He is offering to prepare a private dinner in the home of one lucky winner. Just imagine Symon in your kitchen, plating ribeye while sharing stories from the Food Network.

This year’s honoree is Ray Harden, co-owner of Ben Krupinski Builder and a beloved local figure. A longtime East Hampton resident and firefighter, Harden is known for saving lives and managing tankers. His work at the firm exceeds three decades and he has been instrumental in ensuring the legacy of Ben Krupinski Builder as the go-to for preserving and updating historic homes on the East End.

The work The Retreat does to provide vulnerable families with a safe place is remarkable,” Harden said. “The help we provide is always heartfelt.”

Tickets are priced at $3,000 for a foursome or $800 per player, with caddie fees included. Sponsorships—from driving range perks to tournament backing—are still available. Thanks are already extended to John Hummel and Associates, this year’s dinner sponsor.

For the Hamptons crowd, this event is more than just another golf day on the calendar – it represents an occasion when social good combines with the beauty of late summer. We all know that with the right swing, you can make a difference beyond just your scorecard.
