HarborFrost Fireworks Canceled Due to Extreme Weather

High winds and dangerous wind chills force Grucci show and select activities off the schedule; full day of winter festivities continues in Sag Harbor.

The Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce has canceled Saturday’s HarborFrost fireworks show after forecasts called for high winds and dangerously cold temperatures, with wind chills dipping as low as 15 degrees below zero.

The 5:30 p.m. fireworks display was called off following consultations with Fireworks by Grucci and the Sag Harbor Fire Marshal, citing safety concerns for spectators, performers and nearby properties. The Chamber also canceled the fire dancers performance and the Sag Harbor Boy Scout Troop’s hot chocolate stand planned for Long Wharf.

“Safety must always come first, and under these conditions, a cancellation was necessary.”

“There is no reschedule date for this year, but we look forward to the return of HarborFrost fireworks in 2027,” a Grucci spokesman said, thanking the community for its understanding.

Most HarborFrost Activites Are Still On

Despite the cancellations, HarborFrost is still very much on. Ice carving demonstrations and a full slate of family-friendly events will take place throughout the village as planned. The Chamber is encouraging visitors to bundle up and enjoy the festivities listed on the HarborFrost calendar at sagharborchamber.com.

“We appreciate the community’s understanding as safety remains our top priority,” Chamber officials said. “We look forward to celebrating winter together in Sag Harbor.”
