Driver Arrested After Crashing Through Gate at Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s East Hampton Estate
Police say a 63-year-old Bronx man drove through the gated entrance of the couple’s Georgica property before being arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges. The motive remains under investigation.
A 63-year-old Bronx man was arrested after police say he crashed through the front gate of Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s East Hampton estate on Wednesday, July 15, causing significant damage to the property’s gated entrance.
\According to East Hampton Village Police, officers responded to the Georgica property at approximately 1:06 p.m. on July 15 after receiving reports of a vehicle that had driven through the closed mechanical entrance gates.
When officers arrived, they found Keith Webster, 63, of the Bronx, sitting on the ground on the property. Police said his vehicle was parked in the driveway with significant front-end damage.
“A High Rate of Speed” and Then a Crash Through the Gate
A member of the estate’s security team told police he was inside the security booth when he saw the vehicle traveling “at a high rate of speed” up the driveway. According to police, the vehicle failed to stop at the closed gates, crashed through them, and continued onto the property before coming to a stop in the driveway.
The security guard approached the vehicle to check on the driver and instructed him to exit. Webster complied before officers took him into custody, police said.
Webster complained of pain and was transported to Stony Brook East Hampton Hospital for evaluation. After being released, he was taken to East Hampton Village Police headquarters for processing.
Police charged Webster with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and third-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. He was held for arraignment, and the vehicle was impounded as evidence.
Authorities have not released a motive, and the investigation remains ongoing.
It is not yet know if Jay-Z and Beyonce were home at the time of the incident.
The property, widely known as “The Pond House” is situated on Briar Patch Road in the Georgica estate area, along the exclusive Georgica Pond. The 12,000 square foot home, kpurchased by the superstars in 2017 has 7 bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms and is bordered by a 17-acre nature preserve.
