Hundreds of people and their canine companions made their way from Mulford Farm to the ocean in support of the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, celebrating more than 50 years of animal rescue.

It was a picture-perfect fall day for ARF’s 33rd annual Stroll to the Sea Dog Walk on Saturday, Oct. 10, as hundreds of animal lovers and their four-legged companions gathered at Mulford Farm in East Hampton for one of the season’s most beloved community traditions.

The annual two-mile walk took participants from the historic farm to Main Beach and back, raising support for the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF), which has spent more than five decades rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for cats and dogs in need.

A longtime fixture at the event, fashion designer and entertainer Isaac Mizrahi returned as emcee, presiding over the pre-walk festivities and some decidedly silly contests, including Best Ears, Best Dressed Duo and Best Bark From a Human. Winners were determined by audience applause, with a decibel meter measuring the cheers. Mizrahi, who has designed the artwork for ARF’s annual dog walk T-shirts since 2011, dedicated this year’s design to Jersey, the beloved dog of Dylan Lauren and Paul Arrouet.

The morning also featured raffles, a silent auction, vendors and plenty of treats for two- and four-legged participants.

This year’s event brought together supporters, volunteers and local businesses, with Andy Yuder recognized as the top fundraiser. Sponsors included Dylan’s Candy BarN, Douglas Elliman, Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, Lexus of Southampton, Mercedes-Benz of Southampton, London Jewelers and numerous other East End businesses.

The East Hampton Historical Society, local merchants, volunteers and village officials also helped make the day possible.

With plenty of wagging tails, playful competition and dogs of every shape and size, the Stroll celebrated the East End’s longstanding commitment to animal rescue and the second chances ARF provides to animals in need.
