SPARK on the Scene: The 2026 Hamptons International Film Festival honored Hollywood legends and showcased standout films.

The stars came out for the final weekend of the 2026 Hamptons International Film Festival, with Ron Howard, Bob Balaban, John Turturro, Bryan Cranston, Jesse Eisenberg, and Susie Essman among the notable names making the scene.

One of the festival’s highlights was a tribute to actor, filmmaker and longtime HIFF board member Bob Balaban, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Bryan Cranston at Guild Hall. The celebration continued at The Hedges Inn in East Hampton, where Susie Essman joined friends and family in honoring Balaban.

John Turturro took the spotlight with The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, directed by Noah Segan. The film, a festival Centerpiece selection, stars Turturro as an aging New York pickpocket navigating a changing city and criminal underworld. The cast also includes Steve Buscemi and Giancarlo Esposito. Turturro appeared at Guild Hall for a career-spanning conversation moderated by Deadline Hollywood’s Mike Fleming.

The festival also celebrated its award-winning films, with La Bola Negra, directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, and If Pigeons Turned to Gold, directed by Pepa Lubojacki, taking top jury honors. Audience awards went to Elsinore, starring Olivia Colman, and Burgundy, directed by Michael Dweck and Gregory Kershaw.

The East Coast premiere of Wicker, directed by Eleanor Wilson and Alex Huston Fischer, brought the festival to a close.
