The Hamptons aren’t slowing down yet. This weekend brings big names to East End stages, major summer benefits, art worth seeking out and plenty happening from Westhampton Beach to East Hampton and Shelter Island. Here are the events on our radar for Aug. 13-16.

Holiday House Hamptons: The Summer Table

Holiday House Hamptons returns with The Summer Table, a new take on the designer showhouse centered on entertaining, tablescapes and summer living. Founded by Iris Dankner, the event brings together leading designers and brands while raising money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

78th Annual Artists and Writers Charity Softball Game
Saturday, Aug. 15; Art Fair, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; batting practice, 12:30 p.m.; first pitch, 2 p.m.

One of East Hampton’s most beloved summer traditions returns for its 78th year as local artists, writers and familiar faces take the field for a spirited afternoon of softball for a cause. New this year is a game-day Art Fair running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The family-friendly day also includes food, official game merchandise, raffles and kids running the bases. Proceeds support East End Hospice, The Retreat and the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center.

Peconic Baykeeper raises a glass — and funds — for the East End’s waterways with cocktails, light bites, Peconic Bay oysters and music at Southampton’s historic Port of Missing Men. The evening honors the late Tim Burke, a Southampton local and longtime supporter of the organization.

Antigua & Barbuda Hamptons Challenge Awards Cocktail Party

Caribbean spirit comes to Sag Harbor with cocktails, bites, live steel drum music, a silent auction and the presentation of the Antigua & Barbuda Hamptons Challenge Regatta awards. 31st Annual Ellen’s 5K

Run or walk for a great local cause as the 31st annual Ellen’s 5K returns to Southampton, benefiting the Ellen Hermanson Foundation and its work to ensure access to breast health care on the East End. The family comedy begins when Nora asks her current husband to take in her ex-husband after he suffers a stroke, setting long-simmering tensions in motion.

Ross Bleckner: Never the Less and Eric Freeman: The Volume of Color

Two major exhibitions are on view at Guild Hall. Ross Bleckner: Never the Less brings together nearly 200 rarely seen small-scale paintings alongside major works, while Eric Freeman: The Volume of Color marks the artist’s first major institutional solo presentation on the East End.

The Right Whale: Tales of Resilience and Hope

A screening of The Right Whale: Tales of Resilience and Hope is followed by a reception and panel discussion with filmmakers Cheryl and Nick Dean and ecologist, author and conservationist Carl Safina. The documentary explores the lives of right whales and the conservation challenges facing the species.

Guild Hall screens In the Hand of Dante, the latest film from acclaimed artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel, whose credits include Basquiat, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and At Eternity’s Gate. Schnabel will introduce the film and offer insight into its making.
