East Hampton Library’s 22nd Annual Authors Night Returns With Don Lemon, Carol Leifer, Neil deGrasse Tyson and More Than 100 Authors

The East Hampton Library’s 22nd Annual Authors Night returns Saturday, Aug. 8, bringing together more than 100 acclaimed authors for one of the Hamptons’ premier literary events.

Held under the grand tent at Herrick Park, the annual fundraiser has become one of the country’s largest and most celebrated library-author events, attracting bestselling novelists, journalists, historians, television personalities, chefs and cultural leaders for an evening of books, conversation and community.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with the Authors Reception, where guests can meet participating writers, purchase books and have them personally signed. Guests with premium tickets will continue the evening at private dinner parties hosted throughout the East End in honor of featured authors.

“As we celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Authors Night, we’re excited to once again bring this beloved event to the Village of East Hampton,” East Hampton Library Director Dennis Fabiszak said. “The funds raised at Authors Night allow us to continue offering essential programs and services at the library—completely free of charge—to our diverse community all year long.”

This year’s lineup features more than 100 acclaimed authors, including Robert A. Caro, Karine Jean-Pierre, Carol Leifer, Don Lemon, Jay McInerney, Michael Symon and Neil deGrasse Tyson, along with bestselling novelists, journalists, historians, chefs and cultural leaders from across the country.

The event also shines a spotlight on several East End authors and familiar local personalities, many with compelling new books and Hamptons connections.

Among those we’re especially looking forward to seeing is Leslie Gelb, whose memoir Wake the Bear tells the remarkable true story of Chris Liles, a self-taught artist of Irish and Lakota Sioux heritage who lives and works in the Hamptons. Also signing books is longtime Hamptons publicist Norah Lawlor, who steps from behind the scenes with Mom’s Book of Wisdom: Timeless Advice From My Mother and Yours.

Tony Award-winning Broadway producer Stewart Lane brings Let’s Put On a Show: Let’s Plan, Produce and Stage a Show Like a Pro, offering an insider’s guide to staging successful theater productions.

James F. Comley, father of Tony Award-winning producer Bonnie Comley, will sign The Ups and Downs of Running a Business, sharing practical lessons learned while building and operating his family’s successful elevator company.

Beloved East End artists and authors Monte Farber and Amy Zerner return with Your Cosmic Blueprint: Master the Art of Reading an Astrology Chart, while garden enthusiasts will want to explore Madoo: The Making of an American Garden by Alejandro Saralegui and Kendall Cronstrom, celebrating the legendary Sagaponack garden created by Robert Dash.
