Rao’s, the Hardest Table in New York, Opens for One Night Only

A one-night only chance to say you had the Rao’s experience (and it wasn’t from a jar)

Scoring a seat at Rao’s is close to impossible. Everybody wants in. Few get the chance.

Open since 1896, the East Harlem red-sauce institution has just 10 tables and booths, all controlled by a rotating cast of regulars who hold on to their regular seats forever. Even deep pockets and famous faces can’t reliably secure a seat—making it one of the most unattainable — and coveted — dining experiences in the world.

Dinner Rush: One Night Only
Your luck is about to change. On April 23, Marriott Bonvoy and American Express are bringing Dinner Rush, a one-night recreation of Rao’s inside the JW Marriott Essex House New York. Guests will step into a table-for-table replica of the iconic Harlem spot, complete with wood-paneled walls, sconces, framed archival photos, and a jukebox playing all of Rao’s favorite tunes.

Rao’s in East Harlem is the most coveted dinner reservation in the NYC.

Family-Style Classics You Can’t Miss
Over two 90-minute seatings, the menu serves Rao’s most beloved dishes: famous meatballs, penne marinara, peas and prosciutto, chicken piccata, shrimp scampi, and New York cheesecake and cannoli for dessert. Rao’s owners will mingle with guests, and attendees take home curated keepsakes from the night.

Other Ways to Get Your Rao’s Fix
Can’t snag a ticket? Rao’s has a permanent outpost at Loews Miami Beach Hotel and a limited-time residency at Rusacks St Andrews, Scotland, May–September 2026. Still, nothing fully replicates the original, and Dinner Rush comes closest.

How to Score Your Seat
Tickets are $300 per person (up to two per guest). Text 917-540-2868 April 8–10 to enter for a chance to purchase. Purchase links go out April 14, first-come, first-served, with early access for Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card Members starting April 13.

For anyone chasing New York’s ultimate dining flex, this is your rare shot at Rao’s—without waiting decades for a call from Frank Jr. — that you may never get.
