Ralph Moore Quartet
Hamptons JazzFest presents the Ralph Moore Quartet at LTV Studios in Wainscott — a hard-swinging program rooted in straight-ahead jazz, post-bop, and improvisation from one of the most accomplished tenor saxophonists of his generation.
Born in London, England and based in the United States since the 1970s, Moore attended Berklee College of Music before launching a career that would take him to the top of the jazz world. He spent fifteen years as the featured tenor saxophonist in The Tonight Show Orchestra with Jay Leno — earning national recognition and a devoted following far beyond the jazz scene.
Throughout his career Moore has recorded and performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, J.J. Johnson, Roy Haynes, Cedar Walton, Bobby Hutcherson, McCoy Tyner, Roy Hargrove, and Oscar Peterson — a resume that places him among the most accomplished sidemen in modern jazz history.
This performance at LTV Studios brings Moore back to the intimate club setting where his straight-ahead approach shines brightest — hard swing, lyrical improvisation, and the kind of tenor saxophone mastery that only comes from decades at the highest level of the music.
