Cinco de Mayo falls on a Tuesday (May 5) this year and across the Hamptons it brings a mix of seasonal reopenings, special menus, and one-day celebrations from Southampton to Sag Harbor.

While the East End keeps things more low-key than the city, a number of restaurants and shops are marking the holiday with festive cocktails, chef-driven specials, and early-summer energy built around the weekend crowd.

Reopening for its sixth season on May 1, Rita Cantina launches with a Cinco de Mayo celebration as part of its opening weekend. Expect new dishes, seasonal cocktails, and a lively start to the summer season.


El Verano (Southampton)

A go-to for modern Mexican flavors in Southampton, typically leaning into Cinco de Mayo with festive energy, bold dishes, and a strong early-season dining crowd.


K Pasa (Sag Harbor)

A cantina-style favorite known for creative tacos and cocktails, bringing a casual, lively atmosphere to Cinco de Mayo in the village.

A Caribbean-inspired restaurant known for margaritas and rum-forward drinks, expected to host one of the more energetic Cinco de Mayo celebrations on the East End.

La Fondita (Amagansett)

A local favorite for authentic Mexican takeout, celebrating Cinco de Mayo alongside its 25th anniversary.

The restaurant — not currently open on Tuesdays — will open for the day to serve traditional specials in celebration of the occasion including tamales (pollo en salsa verde, puerco en salsa roja, rajas con queso) and chiles en nogada.
