Slavic Soul Party!
Hamptons JazzFest presents Slavic Soul Party! at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill — a high-energy blend of Balkan brass, funk, jazz, and global rhythms with an explosive live performance rooted in dance music traditions from Eastern Europe and beyond.
Founded in New York City in 1999, Slavic Soul Party! is a nine-piece brass band that draws on Balkan brass traditions, New Orleans second line, funk, klezmer, and Roma music to create a sound entirely their own. Led by drummer and bandleader Matt Moran, the band pumps a strong Balkan brass sound through the filter of life in New York’s outer boroughs — making new music out of the unplanned results of immigration, proximity, and globalization.
Over more than two decades the band has released seven full-length albums and toured the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Turkey, and Zimbabwe. From Carnegie Hall to Serbian schoolyards, festival stages to dive bars, their tunes have been covered by Serbian brass stars, New Orleans funk stalwarts, and legendary street bands worldwide. They have opened for Arcade Fire and the Dresden Dolls, and have been featured on NPR.
This performance at the Parrish Art Museum brings one of New York’s most beloved live acts to the East End — expect dancing, high energy, and a night unlike anything else in the Hamptons JazzFest season.
