Cyrus Chestnut — Solo Piano | McIver Piano Series

Hamptons JazzFest presents Cyrus Chestnut in solo piano performance at LTV Studios in Wainscott — part of the McIver Piano Series. Known for his powerful touch, deep swing, and gospel-rooted style, Chestnut brings an evening of dynamic and deeply expressive jazz piano to the East End.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland and trained at Berklee College of Music, Chestnut has built one of the most distinguished careers in contemporary jazz. His playing draws on swing, blues, gospel, and bebop, combining technical mastery with genuine emotional depth.

Over the course of his career he has performed and recorded with artists including Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Dizzy Gillespie, and Terence Blanchard. Time Magazine called him ‘the best jazz pianist of his generation.’

This solo performance presents Chestnut in an intimate setting focused entirely on the piano — featuring improvisation, standards, and original compositions. An evening not to be missed.
