A look inside Southampton Arts Center’s signature summer fundraiser, featuring Latin jazz, dancing, cocktails, community leaders and one of the Hamptons’ favorite kickoff celebrations.
The Southampton Arts Center kicked off the summer season with its sixth annual Whimsy: Latin Jazz Dance Party on Saturday, June 27. The festive fundraiser brought together Hamptons residents, artists and supporters for an evening of cocktails, cuisine by Robbins Wolfe, live music from the Maria Raquel Quintet, and dancing in celebration of the arts.
Proceeds from the event support Southampton Arts Center’s year-round exhibitions, educational programming and commitment to providing accessible, inclusive arts experiences across the East End.
The evening also honored Lana Jokel with the inaugural Community Leader Award, recognizing her longstanding generosity to Southampton Arts Center and other East End organizations. Her support includes funding the renovation of the center’s interior ceilings.
“Whimsy is the best summer kickoff in the Hamptons. A dance party with great food, drinks and a swoon-worthy crowd. I love being able to dance in the arts center surrounded by great art with lots of friends,” said Sylvia Hemingway, co-chair.
