Cuomo purchased Seatuck Lodge, a sprawling waterfront compound in Remsenburg, for $9.6 million in an all-cash transaction that closed June 23, according to published reports and OneKey MLS records.
Nine Bedrooms, a Private Beach and a Tennis Court
The estate overlooks Seatuck Cove and Moriches Bay and centers on a Shingle Style residence dating to the 1890s. The main house has nine bedrooms and 9½ bathrooms, while a separate guesthouse adds four bedrooms.
And that is just the beginning.
The property includes 234 feet of waterfront, a private sandy beach, docks and boathouse, along with a heated saltwater gunite pool, poolhouse with sauna and gym, Har-Tru tennis court, five-car garage and a restored windmill.
Inside the main house are a library, sunroom, wine cellar, multiple fireplaces, elevator and a chef’s kitchen with a 17-foot island.
The estate had most recently been listed for $11.9 million in August 2025 before the asking price was reduced to $10.9 million in March. It went into contract in April and closed June 23 for $9.6 million, according to OneKey MLS records.
A Cash Deal With No Buyer’s Broker
Lauren Spiegel of Douglas Elliman represented the seller. MLS records show no buyer’s broker in the transaction.
Cuomo purchased the property through limited liability companies, and no mortgage was recorded, according to published reports.
A spokesman for Cuomo confirmed the purchase to The New York Times and said the former governor plans to use the home as a summer residence while selling vacant lots that were part of the acquisition. Cuomo also maintains an apartment in New York City.
The compound has been marketed over the years as a seven-plus-acre estate comprising multiple parcels. The main residential parcel in the most recent MLS listing encompasses approximately 4.2 acres.
Seatuck Lodge Has a History of Its Own
The house is known as Seatuck Lodge, and its history stretches back more than 130 years.
Southampton Town historic records date the residence to 1895 and identify author and publisher Alonzo Reed with the property. The estate was once approximately 23 acres, with a mansion of more than 20 rooms.
Charles Hilles, who served as secretary to President William Howard Taft and later chaired the Republican National Committee, was also associated with the property. Southampton Town’s historic survey identifies Seatuck Lodge as potentially eligible for landmark designation.
The estate underwent extensive restoration and renovation over the years while retaining many of its historic architectural details.
Once a Record-Setting Remsenburg Sale
When the compound sold in 2016 for $10.875 million, the transaction set a price record for Remsenburg at the time. Spiegel, who represented the sellers in this year’s sale, also represented them when they purchased the property in 2016.
The estate subsequently returned to the market for $17.5 million in 2022 before undergoing a series of price changes. By August 2025, it was asking $11.9 million.
That makes Cuomo’s $9.6 million purchase roughly $1.3 million below what the sellers paid for the property a decade ago — and nearly $8 million below its 2022 asking price.
For Cuomo, 68, the purchase establishes a more permanent presence on the East End. He has been a familiar face in the Hamptons over the years and continues to maintain a residence in Manhattan.

Cuomo resigned as governor in 2021 amid sexual harassment allegations, which he has denied. In 2025, he unsuccessfully sought the New York City mayoralty, first running in the Democratic primary and later continuing in the general election as an independent.
Since leaving electoral politics, Cuomo has worked in the private sector. In June, he was named co-chair of a joint venture involving cryptocurrency company OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, parent company of the New York Stock Exchange.

For Cuomo, the purchase establishes a significant new foothold on the East End — at one of Remsenburg’s most distinctive waterfront estates.
