5 Broadway Shows Making Sparks This Fall 2026
Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes her Broadway debut, Billy Crystal gets personal and Aaron Sorkin returns to the courtroom as a star-studded new season takes the stage.
Broadway is bringing some serious star power to New York this fall, with familiar faces from film and television, a new musical and fresh takes on theater favorites.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Billy Crystal lead the way, while Aaron Sorkin’s courtroom drama returns to the stage. Add a musical about two sisters turned outlaws and a revival of a beloved classic, and there are plenty of reasons to plan a theater night in the city.
Here are five Broadway shows making sparks this fall.
Opening: Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026 (now in previews) Theater: Hudson Theatre Address: 141 W. 44th St., New York
Julia Louis-Dreyfus makes her Broadway debut in a revival of Jon Robin Baitz’s acclaimed family drama, with a cast that also includes Ed Harris, Allison Janney, Lily Rabe and Joe Keery of “Stranger Things.”

Set in Palm Springs, the play follows a daughter who returns home with plans to publish a memoir exposing a long-buried family secret. Her politically connected parents aren’t exactly thrilled. What follows is a battle over loyalty, memory and who gets to tell the family story.
Directed by actor John Benjamin Hickey, the production brings together an unusually strong ensemble for a play that mixes family dysfunction with political tensions. Louis-Dreyfus and Keery are both making their Broadway debuts.
Opening: Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026 (now in previews) Theater: Imperial Theatre Address: 249 W. 45th St., New York
Billy Crystal returns to Broadway with something deeply personal.
In “860,” a new one-man show written and performed by Crystal, the comedian reflects on losing his longtime Pacific Palisades home in the devastating California wildfires. The title comes from the house number, but the story extends well beyond the building.

Crystal revisits family, friendship, love, loss and the memories that make a house a home, drawing on the humor and storytelling that made his Tony Award-winning “700 Sundays” such a success.
Directed by Scott Ellis, the show runs for a limited engagement through Jan. 3, 2027.
Opening: Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026 (previews begin Oct. 8) Theater: Vivian Beaumont Theater, Lincoln Center Address: 150 W. 65th St., New York
“You can’t handle the truth!” may be one of Hollywood’s most famous lines, but Aaron Sorkin’s military courtroom drama started on Broadway in 1989, three years before Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise made it a movie sensation.
“A Few Good Men” at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, NYC
Now the play is back for its first Broadway revival, with Bradley Whitford taking on Nicholson’s formidable Col. Nathan Jessep, Tom Blyth playing military lawyer Daniel Kaffee and Krysta Rodriguez as Lt. Cmdr. JoAnne Galloway.
The story centers on two Marines accused of murder and the lawyers whose investigation exposes a possible cover-up within the military chain of command.
Tony winner Michael Arden directs this limited engagement, bringing Sorkin’s rapid-fire dialogue and questions about authority, loyalty and accountability back to the stage.
Opening: Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026 (previews begin Oct. 15) Theater: James Earl Jones Theatre Address: 138 W. 48th St., New York
Two Black twin sisters passing as white become outlaws in 1893 Texas. That’s the premise of “Wanted,” a new Broadway musical inspired by the true story of Mary and Martha Clarke.
Solea Pfeiffer and Liisi LaFontaine in “Wanted” at the James Earl Jones Theater, NYC.
Solea Pfeiffer and Liisi LaFontaine star as the sisters, who risk everything to protect their family and reclaim what has been denied them. Grammy-winning singer Ledisi plays their mother, with Luke James and Bradley Jaden also in the cast.
Previously titled “Gun & Powder,” the musical features a book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri, a descendant of the sisters, and music by Ross Baum. Stevie Walker-Webb directs.
It’s a Western with a twist, combining family history, racial identity, music and rebellion in a story that hasn’t traditionally found its way to Broadway.
Opening: Monday, Nov. 16, 2026 (previews begin Oct. 22) Theater: Hayes Theater Address: 240 W. 44th St., New York
One of the longest-running musicals in theater history is getting a new Broadway life — with a significant change to its familiar love story.
The Fantasticks on Broadway
This reimagining of “The Fantasticks,” the beloved Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt musical, centers on two teenage boys whose meddling mothers devise a plan to bring them together. Naturally, things don’t go quite as planned.
The production features Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer and Ruthie Ann Miles as the mothers, with Zane Phillips as the mysterious narrator El Gallo.
Directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, the revival retains the show’s familiar songs, including “Try to Remember,” while giving its story of young love a contemporary perspective.
After decades of success off-Broadway, “The Fantasticks” is finally making its Broadway debut.
