Southampton Playhouse Brings Caroline Hirsch’s New York’s Funniest Stand Ups to the Hamptons

Comedy stars of tomorrow take the stage July 7 with Jason Choi, Jaye McBride and Maddy Smith, curated by Hamptons resident and comedy legend Caroline Hirsch.

The laughs are heading to Southampton as the Southampton Playhouse teams up with comedy impresario Caroline Hirsch to bring New York’s Funniest Stand Ups to the East End on Tuesday, July 7.

Hirsch, the founder of the legendary Carolines on Broadway and the New York Comedy Festival—and a Hamptons resident who also serves on the Southampton Playhouse advisory board—has helped launch the careers of some of comedy’s biggest names. Now she’s bringing three rising stars to the Playhouse stage for an evening showcasing the next generation of stand-up.

Caroline Hirsch presents Jason Choi, Jaye McBride and Maddy Smith in a comedy show at The Southampton Playhouse on July 7, 2026

The lineup includes:

Jason Choi — A comedian, writer and actor, Choi is a Comedy Mob Festival winner who performs regularly at New York Comedy Club. He has opened for Ronny Chieng, Mark Normand and Gary Gulman while appearing at comedy festivals around the world.

Jaye McBride — A regular at New York City’s Comedy Cellar, McBride has performed at venues ranging from Red Rocks to Madison Square Garden. She was named a “New Face” at the Just for Laughs festival, appeared at the Netflix Is a Joke Festival and earned a Writers Guild Award for her work on Inside Amy Schumer.

Maddy Smith — Known for her fearless crowd work and sharp roasts, Smith is a cast member on MTV’s Wild ‘N Out. The nationally touring comedian has opened for Bert Kreischer and Theo Von and has appeared on HBO, BET and Barstool Sports.

All three comics were featured in the 2025 edition of New York’s Funniest Stand Ups, a showcase known for spotlighting emerging talent before they break through. Alumni include Nate Bargatze, Michael Che, Jordan Jensen, Tim Dillon, Josh Johnson and Ricky Velez.

“One of the greatest privileges I’ve had in my career is having a front-row seat to the incredible new voices shaping the future of comedy,” Hirsch said. “We’ve helped introduce audiences to performers who went on to become household names, and we’re always looking for the next breakout star. We’re thrilled to partner with the Southampton Playhouse to bring some of New York City’s most exciting emerging comedians to the Hamptons.”

“Caroline’s influence in comedy is unmatched, and we’re thrilled she has partnered with the Southampton Playhouse for this special evening,” said Maria A. Ruiz Botsacos, executive director of the Southampton Playhouse. “She has curated a dynamic lineup of comics, and we’re excited to welcome them to the East End.”

New York’s Funniest Stand Ups takes place Tuesday, July 7, at 7 p.m. at the Southampton Playhouse, 43 Hill St., Southampton.
