North Fork Top Events This Weekend: Country Fair, Oktoberfest, Chowderfest and Magician Asi Wind
From a 45-year-old country fair to Oktoberfest, waterfront eats and a little sleight of hand, the first weekend of October is packed from Riverhead to Greenport.
Fall is hitting its stride on the North Fork, and this weekend has a little of everything. There are big annual traditions, serious food and wine, live entertainment, a Friday night out and a few only-out-here ways to spend an October afternoon. Here are the events making some Spark this weekend.

The North Fork goes old-school for Hallockville’s 45th annual Country Fair, with farm animals, tractor pulls, live music, traditional crafts, historic home tours, colonial cooking, wagon and kiddie train rides, demonstrations, food and plenty for kids. Sunday admission is half-price from 10 a.m. to noon.

Oktoberfest comes to North Fork Table & Inn for a full weekend of fall eating and drinking, with bratwurst, schnitzel, giant pretzels, draft beer and other Bavarian-inspired fare on the menu.

Two dozen oysters meet six sparkling wines at this walk-around tasting celebrating Long Island oyster farmers and East End chefs. Expect local oysters served raw, grilled, roasted and fried, plus plenty of bubbles.
Acclaimed magician and mentalist Asi Wind brings his close-up-meets-theater style of magic to The Suffolk. His off-Broadway show Inner Circle earned a six-month run in New York, and Wind has been named both Magician of the Year and Close-Up Magician of the Year by the Academy of Magical Arts.

History gets theatrical as Victorian-clad “widow guides” lead visitors through the historic burying ground, where costumed actors recount the lives of people buried there. This year puts a special spotlight on Revolutionary War veterans for America’s 250th anniversary.
The North Fork community comes together at Peconic Landing for the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual walk supporting research, care and the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

North Fork Women gathers for its monthly First Friday Friends, this time at North Fork Brewing Co., with appetizers provided by the organization, locally brewed beer available at a cash bar and a casual chance to connect.
Angela LaGreca, Editor-in-chief and co-Founder/Publisher of Spark Hamptons, is a four-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, producer, writer and comedian/host. Her TV credits include NBC’s “Today,” ABC’s “The View,” and, most recently, the primetime cable news program “Cuomo” on NewsNation. On the East End, she was the Creative Director at LTV, VP Features/Events/Photo Editor at Dan’s Papers, and has performed at Guild Hall, Bay Street Theater and the WHBPAC. Her publishing career began at Modern Photography, where she was managing editor.
