Madonna’s Old Hamptons Rental is Back — and It Costs $20 Million

A Former Madonna Summer Hamptons Retreat Returns to the Market

A house in Water Mill, where Madonna once spent her summers, is back on the market in the Hamptons, this time with a $20 million price tag.

A Rarely Found Setting: Space, Acreage, and Privacy

The house is huge, about 14,500 square feet, and sits on three acres next to farmland. That’s pretty rare since it’s hard to find privacy around here these days in today’s increasingly built-up Hamptons. Originally constructed in 2009, the property has since been renovated by the current owner, giving it a markedly different look from its last sale.

Accessed by a long stone driveway, the home is set behind another property on Blank Lane, keeping it largely hidden from view. The secluded layout makes it nearly invisible from the road.

Designed for Grand-Scale Entertaining

Inside, it’s set up for big Hamptons parties: nine bedrooms, a game room, a dining room big enough for 16 people, and two kitchens (one has a table that seats 10). Outside, there’s new lighting, a pool, a tennis court, and a three-car garage. Plus, there’s a separate kitchen just for catering. It’s basically its own little compound.

From Pandemic Purchase to $20 Million Ask

A New York-based company bought the place in 2020 for $6.65 million, after it was originally listed for nearly $9 million. The deal closed during the early days of the pandemic, happened when prices were down for a bit. But by the time everything was finalized in October, Hamptons prices were already going back up.

About a year later, they put it back on the market for $15 million, before it was raised to $20 million. Since then, it’s been listed for sale and for rent, with rent costing anywhere from $200,000 to $500,000 a month.

A Celebrity Past Adds to the Allure

The property has been rented out to famous people before. But the fact that Madonna stayed there in the early 2010s, makes it a little more alluring. While she was renting in Water Mill, she was also building a house in Bridgehampton, and had places in New York, London, and Lisbon.

A Private Compound With Hamptons History

Once a discreet hideaway for one of the world’s most famous cultural icons, the Water Mill estate now offers buyers land, privacy, and a touch of Hamptons lore — without the spotlight that once followed its most famous guest.
