More than 600 guests turned out for the sold-out Palm Beach tradition, blending Motown, masquerade glamour and major giving in support of veterans, children and animal welfare.

Palm Beach sparkled on Feb. 7 as LIFE hosted its 32nd Annual Lady in Red Gala at The Breakers, raising more than $1 million for its charity partners.

A Night of Glamour and Giving

Now in its fourth decade, the marquee event drew more than 600 civic and community leaders for an evening that delivered on its signature mix of world-class entertainment, elevated cuisine and high-spirited philanthropy — complete with the sky-high, build-your-own ice cream sundae that has become a guest favorite.

Motown, Masquerades, and Unforgettable Entertainment

This year’s masquerade theme transformed the ballroom into a glittering sea of sequins and masks. Gala chair and host Lois Pope joked that she hadn’t seen that much sparkle since a Liberace concert. With Mardi Gras around the corner, she quipped that “Fat Tuesday” might now be better known as “Skinny Tuesday,” thanks to Ozempic — drawing laughs from the crowd.

Motown legends The Temptations had guests on their feet with classics including “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Treat Her Like a Lady” and “The Way You Do the Things You Do.” Earlier in the evening, comedian Rita Rudner warmed up the room with her signature wit and observations on life, love and relationships.

Cocktail hour featured mini lobster rolls and other indulgent bites, accompanied by Broadway favorites performed by the Palm Beach Symphony. Dinner followed with crab cakes, lobster tail and filet mignon before dancing continued late into the evening to the Famous Legends Band.

Lois Pope’s Joyful Vision

“From the beginning, I wanted the Lady in Red to feel different from other fundraising galas,” Pope said. “Rather than a formal program filled with speeches, I envisioned a glamorous, joyful party with extraordinary entertainment — where people want to dress up, celebrate and give generously. That vision has worked beautifully.”

Proceeds benefited LIFE’s selected charity partners, including:

  • Pups4Patriots at American Humane Society
  • Lois’ Food4Kids at Palm Beach County Food Bank
  • Lois’ Vision4Kids at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute
  • Lois Pope Pet Center at Tri County Animal Rescue

Pope chaired the gala alongside Suzi Goldsmith, co-founder of Tri County Animal Rescue. Ari Rifkin served as honorary chair, with co-chairs Marti LaTour, Mike and Diana Retzer, and Gail Worth and Frank Orenstein.
