“Souper Social” Winter Tradition Returns to East Hampton

A soup and social tradition is back to help get us through the winter.

As winter settles in, few things are more comforting than gathering with neighbors over a warm bowl of soup. That spirit of community is back in East Hampton with the return of Souper Social—a free, community soup dinner held at Most Holy Trinity Parish Hall on Buell Lane.

Hosted by the East Hampton Clericus, Souper Social has been a cherished local tradition since 2008. The program paused during the COVID-19 pandemic but has been revived this winter through the support of the clericus and the efforts of Honest Man Catering, Art of Eating, and Shira Barzilay.

The first Souper Social of the season (see photo gallery) took place Jan. 8, with two additional dates scheduled for Feb. 12 and March 12.

Designed for families, seniors, and community members of all ages, the evenings offer a welcoming space to connect and socialize while enjoying soups donated by local restaurants, along with bread, fruit, and desserts.

Organizers hope to keep the Souper Social tradition simmering for many winters to come.
