A Powerful Afternoon Supporting Ovarian Cancer Research and Survivors

Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper (H.O.W.) gathered supporters at The Beach Club In Palm Beach for its 24th annual Time Is of the Essence Lecture & Luncheon, a cornerstone event advancing ovarian cancer research, education, and patient support. This year’s luncheon featured acclaimed actress and advocate Christine Baranski as honoree and guest speaker.

Honoring Survivors, Amplifying Voices

H.O.W. Executive Director Jennifer McGrath opened the program by recognizing ovarian cancer survivors in attendance, including 20-year survivor Ann Candido, whose resilience drew heartfelt applause. Survivor and H.O.W. advocate Louise Altese-Isidori shared her journey of perseverance, offering an uplifting message about transforming adversity into purpose — punctuated by a celebratory toast of Pallini Limoncello raised in honor of hope and life.

Baranski in Conversation

In a candid, wide-ranging conversation with Pamela Fiori, former editor of Town & Country, Baranski reflected on advocacy, awareness, and the urgency of continued research. Guests also heard from Dr. Robert M. Wenham, chair of Gynecologic Oncology at Moffitt Cancer Center, who highlighted advances in early detection and treatment — and the critical need for sustained investment.

The luncheon was led by Chairwoman Andrea Stark, alongside Robbi Toll, Liz Feuer, and Wendy Topkis. Honorary Chairwomen Eduarda “Eddy” Taylor, Judy Snyder, and Roberta Kozloff were also recognized for their continued leadership and dedication to H.O.W.’s mission.

Continuing a Lasting Legacy

Founded in memory of Jacquie T. Liggett, H.O.W. has invested more than $1.34 million in ovarian cancer research through the Dr. Robert C. Knapp Fellowship and has provided direct financial assistance to more than 200 local women through the Glenda M. Wright Angel Fund.
