Bringing Home a New Dog? Free ARF Lecture in East Hampton

Thinking about bringing home a dog — or adding a second one to the family? The experts at Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons will break down what to expect.

On Wednesday at 6 p.m., ARF will host a free Bark the Question lecture at its campus, 124 Daniels Hole Road in East Hampton, covering everything from introducing a new puppy to helping an adopted dog settle into a new home.

Topics include:
• How to help a new dog feel safe and comfortable
• Whether the sex of a dog matters when adding another pet
• When (and how) to introduce your puppy to friends and family
• How long the adjustment period may take

Whether you’re welcoming a puppy, adopting from a shelter, or relocating a dog to a seasonal Hamptons home, the transition can be stressful for both pets and owners. This discussion offers practical tips for easing that adjustment — and insight into how dogs adapt to new environments.

The panel features experienced trainers Veronica Grzybowska, Cindy LeRoy, and Gail Murphy, with Caryl Glaab, director of training programs at ARF’s William P. Rayner Training Center, moderating.

The lecture is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. (Humans only — please leave the dogs at home.)
