An acclaimed production that puts the dramatic in dramatic soprano (and what great opera doesn’t). Wagner’s meditation on love and death (this ain’t ping pong, kids) gets a new Met debut staging by visionary opera director Yuval Sharon.
Last chance to see this horror-thriller set in 1930s Chicago — a brilliant (and slightly unhinged) scientist, Dr. Euphronious (Annette Bening), pulls off the unthinkable — bringing a murdered young woman (Jessie Buckley) back to life as a match for Frankenstein’s monster (Christian Bale). Naturally, nothing goes as planned — and it gets darker, stranger — and way more unpredictable.
Hamptons Pride Film Series: Carol Sunday, March 22, 4 p.m. | $10 Bay Street Theater, Sag Harbor baystreet.org

A critically acclaimed romantic drama following a lesbian love affair in 1950s (uh oh!) New York between affluent housewife Carol Aird (Cate Blanchett) and aspiring photographer Therese Belivet (Rooney Mara). Blanchett has a way with a cigarette. Based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Price of Salt.
