33rd Hamptons Int’l Film Fest Brings Star Power With Elizabeth Olsen, Ethan Hawke
The Hamptons International Film Festival will return this fall with a lineup that reflects both tradition and the excitement of new discoveries. The 33rd edition, running from October 3 to 13, begins with the U.S. premiere of Eternity, a film by David Freyne about love, loss, and the choices that follow us into the afterlife. Elizabeth Olsen, who stars alongside Miles Teller and Callum Turner, will attend the premiere in East Hampton. The next day, she will participate in a “Conversation With” event about her career.
This year’s Spotlight films showcase the festival’s mix of legacy and renewal. Richard Linklater presents Blue Moon, featuring Ethan Hawke, Margaret Qualley, Bobby Cannavale, and Andrew Scott. The film offers a backstage look at lyricist Lorenz Hart during the success of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! Hawke, a familiar face at the festival, will also have his own “Conversation With” to discuss his roles as an actor, director, and writer.

Bill Condon’s Kiss of the Spider Woman continues the festival’s tradition of reinterpreting classics for modern audiences. It features Diego Luna, Jennifer Lopez, and Tonatiuh in a story of two cellmates building a connection through tales of cinema and fantasy. Tonatiuh will receive the UBS Breakthrough Performer Award. The UBS Breakthrough Director Award will go to Eva Victor, whose debut feature Sorry, Baby impressed audiences at Sundance earlier this year. Victor, who both wrote and stars in the film, will bring her sharp, darkly comedic take on modern love and self-sabotage to East Hampton for a special screening.
“Our lineup this year represents the spirit of discovery that defines HIFF,” said David Nugent, the festival’s Chief Creative Officer. “With powerful premieres and inspiring conversations, we’re proud to curate programming that invites audiences to experience the artistry, imagination, and diversity of today’s filmmakers.” Executive Director Richard Gladstein noted that the festival’s programming team has gathered “a group of dynamic and distinct films” that cover various genres and locations.

The festival will once again attract screenings and audiences across the Hamptons, sponsored by organizations such as Artemis Rising Foundation, Audi, UBS, Il Buco, Netflix, and Wölffer Estate, among others. As the festival approaches its mid-30s, it remains a vital link between Hollywood prestige and independent discovery. For a region known for its art, literature, and summer vibes, October in the Hamptons has become a unique celebration of cinema set against the calm of fall.
