Matthew Broderick, Marisa Tomei, Ayo Edebiri and more took the stage for a special reading benefiting the Center at West Park, followed by a conversation moderated by CNN’s Dana Bash.

SPARK SCENE — EAST HAMPTON

It was The Big Chill with a new cast — and a Hamptons setting.

The Center at West Park brought a star-studded staged reading of the 1983 film The Big Chill to Guild Hall in East Hampton on Monday, Aug. 31, drawing an ensemble that included Matthew Broderick, Marisa Tomei, Ayo Edebiri, Amy Brenneman and Brian d’Arcy James.

The one-night-only performance featured Lawrence Kasdan and Barbara Benedek’s Academy Award-nominated screenplay, directed by David Saint.

Joining the cast were Spencer Garrett, Ilana Levine, J. Smith-Cameron, Josh Hamilton, Dylan Walsh and New York City Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams.

Following the reading, Saint joined the cast for a conversation moderated by CNN’s Dana Bash. Guests then gathered for an intimate garden reception.

The event benefited the Center at West Park and its efforts to preserve the historic West-Park Presbyterian Church at West 86th Street and Amsterdam Avenue in Manhattan. The organization has been fighting plans that would allow the landmark building to be demolished for redevelopment.

Among those attending were Kate Walsh, Chris Cuomo, Cristina Cuomo, HamptonsFilm Chief Creative Officer David Nugent and Executive Director Bob Feinberg, Southampton Playhouse Executive Director Maria A. Ruiz Botsacos, director Brad Silberling, playwright and actor Jonathan Marc Sherman, producer Celine Rattray and Center at West Park board members Mitchell Schamroth, Andrew Jones, Joe DiSalvo, Peggy Becker and Gerry Byrne.
